Down at the heel homes, corner stores, vacant lots, and construction sites share a strong sense of locality but also belong to a larger American landscape and culture. As we emerge from a year of isolation and loss we come face to face with ourselves – the schism between who we were and who we are is faceted, a shadow shifting along the edge of waking memory.
